Get Your Inspiration Back

Feeling like you are lacking in ideas?  Need a little stimulation to get the creative juices flowing again?  We all hit the no-brainwave-wall every so often but don’t take it sitting down.  Let’s look at inspiration and what we can do if we lose it.  The dictionary defines inspiration as “the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially something creative.”  That is true but it is so much more than that.  It is exciting, spontaneous and unpredictable.  You can’t just call it on or control it but there are ways you can find it again.  Here’s what you can do.

Walk It Out

Walking

Nothing like getting your muscles pumping with walking to help open you up to the possibilities that the world has to offer.  But don’t just walk, take a new route, discover something new and just observe.  Don’t block your thoughts or feelings when you walk, just see what unfolds. Sometimes inspiration will strike as soon as you see a new flower or a big house.  Even just looking up into the sky and feeling the sun beam down on your face is enough to give you a creative vision.  It’s amazing what a walk can do.

Cook it up

When frustration hits, it’s good to heat things up via cooking. There is a lot of enchantment in the kitchen and food can do the most incredible things.

Greek Asparagus

In the case for inspiration you will need the help these 9 beautiful seasoning plants: rosemary, thyme, basil, oregano, lemon pepper, garlic, parsley, dill, and chives.  If you don’t have any of these flavourings, that’s okay.  Go to any g

rocery store and pick up Greek seasoning.  That’s right, we are calling upon the 9 Muses of Ancient Greece to help us with this.  You can cook up any vegetables with these tasty essences but I suggest going for either potatoes or asparagus.  Add a little lemon juice and olive oil and you got yourself some inspiration you can bite.

See a Live Performance

Forget the movies and see a live play, ballet or orchestra.  Inspiration can be very easy to find in a real theater.  I love shows like these because you will see what inspires performers, coaches and

Curtain Call

directors throughout the ages.  You watch the story unfold in front you with costumes that look so beautiful they sparkle without even trying.   You hear music or lines that break your heart and make you shout for joy at the same time.  You feel so many emotions in one single performance that it pulls you into a whole other realm of thought.  It doesn’t get any more magical than that.

Crystals Have Got It

Crystals to the rescue again my friends.  To boost your creative juices you will need citrine, aventurine and carnelian.  With these crystals you can either wear them or carry them with you, it’s totally up to you.  You will need citrine to open your mind, aventurine to find what’s missing and carnelian to hel

p overcome any difficulties. So all in all, not a bad bunch to have with you when you are trying to find your creativity.

Paint Night

Get Your Paint On

Get in touch with your artistic side and have a paint night with your friends.  Don’t worry if you are not a good painter.  What’s important is you have fun and enjoy the evening with some good people.  Now yes, there are places to go where artists are throwing painting party/classes with wine.  The cost of these classes/parties are anywhere between $25-$45, it depends on what company you go through.  If you can’t find a company or just don’t want to spend the money, then just get your friends over to your place.  Make sure you get a bottle of wine, a blank canvas, paint brushes, and paints for the experience.  Also have your friends bring their own wine and tools.  Then you select the picture you want to paint and just go at it.  It is wonderfully invigorating.

Sit in a Coffee Shop

It’s All In The Atmosphere

To sit in a nearby coffee shop is not just an inspiration booster, it’s good for you.  A change of scenery along with the act of just sitting, mindfully sipping a warm comforting beverage is a calming exercise.  You decrease your stress levels, lower your blood pressure and live solely in the present which makes you happier.  If you can, see if you can sit with someone and talk with them.  Ask this person questions and get to know them.  When you listen to someone’s story you will suddenly find what you are looking for.

Get A Inspiration Figurine

There are many beautiful and powerful little statues in the world.  One of them is meant for you.  It can be anything from a statue of

Inspiration Strikes

Jesus, the Buddha or even a fairy figurine (Like the one on the left).  These aren’t always easy to find but they are out there.  Go to new age stores, online retailers or even antique shops.  When you see the figurine that is meant to inspire you, you will see an aura around it.  You were meant to find it.  When you bring it home put it in a place where you can view it every day.  And if you ever feel lost just look at the figurine and concentrate on it.  It will tell you what to do.

With those tips you might just get your enthusiasm back.  Even if you don’t, it’s not the end of the world.   Inspiration will often just grab you when you least expect it.  That’s why it is also good to have a pen and notepad with you just in case.   When you get that dose of creativity, I suggest to you jump to it ASAP.   It feels good to let out what is inside you.  So what inspires you my friends?

Making Magic Come To Life

Greetings fun-seekers, adventurers, explorers and adrenaline-junkies. Thank you choosing to visit my blog; Light, Laughter and a Little Magic. My name is Erika but I also go by “The Oracle.” I’m a blogger and aspiring story-teller. I’ve been blogging since January 1, 2015. I’ve been on a couple of sabbaticals but I am back and looking to help others find exciting escapades.

I’m a fun-loving woman who loves a good adventure and to write them down. I’ll be taking you all on some of my experiences in hopes to not only entertain but inform. There are so many amazing things to see and do out there. Some of the things I do will involve spending some money while others will not cost you a dime. The stories I tell you can be done with family, friends or by yourself. Whatever the experience, I hope to set your imaginations free and inspire you to try some of these amazing things.
I am a free spirit on a journey and in order to tell you my story, I have to share it with you this way. But first, here are a few things about myself. I have a sweet little kitty named Karma, I live in a colorful plant-filled condo and have a lot of things that I like to do. My favorite hobbies include circus acrobatics, archery, yoga, knife-throwing, cooking and gardening. That’s right, I’m a circus-loving foodie with a penchant for long-range weaponry, and a fondness for plants. I’m also very much into meditation, music, dancing, travelling, love stories, nature, and just about anything that’s fun. Life is too short, you might as well do everything that this world has to offer.

Goals for My Blog

For me, blogging is about sharing what’s inside of you with the people in your life. My goal is to start your day off on a happy note while you have your first cup of coffee in the morning. Or, you can enjoy my blog at the end of your day while you are enjoying a glass of wine. Either way, I wish to inspire you to grab life with both hands.

What you can expect from my blog

Magic and fun. I will recommend some pretty cool stuff that should be tried at least once. You will also notice that everything I write has a bit of a mystical twist. I see the world as an exhilarating enchanting amusement park that’s waiting to be explored. I would never recommend anything that I didn’t like, this I promise you. Prepare to be enlightened, entertained and even given some practical advice.

Will you join me on a magical journey?

  1. What a great post! I love that you included cooking as an inspiration starter! That’s where I go when I need a kick…sometimes I make a masterpiece, sometimes I make a disaster. But either I way I walk away with my creative juices flowing. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I took a new route recently when I went running & walking…and I felt inspired as I took the time to take in & appreciate the beauty around me. I also felt refreshed, and I could feel the creative juices beginning to flow…new ideas came in relation to some things I’ve been working on. So I thought that was great advice you gave about discovering something new and just observing…it really does work. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Yes! I am always in search of some inspiration. I love all of these ideas. I definitely do not own a figurine for inspiration. Maybe I’ll look into that next. Concerts are definitely a go to, as well as going for walks. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing!

  4. Great ideas. I love the idea that we can go out and find inspiration rather than hoping it comes to us. My favorite ideas are going for a walk or cooking. I always feel like I work better in coffee shops.
