Happy 2018 everybody! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Since this is a new year, it’s time for some new goals. Setting resolutions is an interesting tradition we have or a few good reasons. For example:
To Start Anew
A great thing about a new year is new possibilities and the chance for magical renewal. You can create new goals with a very good chance of success. Why? Because you have a whole year to get it done. It’s good to have a deadline but don’t worry. You won’t be fired if you don’t complete it. After all, a lot can happen in a year and some things take a backseat. That’s why there is next year. Another perfect new beginning in 2019.
Throughout history, people have tried to make things better for themselves and those around them. If you want improvements, start with yourself. You don’t need to be perfect but that doesn’t mean you can’t make some new positive changes in your life. Michael Jackson said it best, “If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make the change.” So if you have a goal or two, make a plan and give it your best shot.
Sense of Accomplishment
Don’t you just love that feeling of triumph after you have completed a really difficult task? Well that is another thing a new year’s resolution can do for you. When you accomplish something you boost your confidence and your self-esteem. You also learn a little more about yourself. You learn what you can do when you develop skills that you didn’t have and put your days to good use. So go get that “hooray for me” moment.
Trying New Things
Trying a new ventureis a good way to start the year. You can do something fun to complete your goal. For example, if your New Year’s resolution is to lose weight, why not try a Zumba class? Or if you are looking to eat better, why not take a cooking class or try a new recipe with a group of friends? A good resolution is to create more fun in your life. The sky is the limit when you have an open mind.
A Whole New Perspective
Change can be scary so try small changes you are comfortable with. Small changes can make a big difference and alter your perception of life. Change your perception and you change your reality. After you have achieved your resolution, you may see things in a whole new light. That is the power of change.
My resolution is to get my home and myself more organized (wish me luck with that since that is my biggest struggle), get my business up and running, and to continue to help others. When it comes to your yearly goals, make sure it is actually attainable; something you can actually do. Taking a vacation on Pluto does not count. Sorry. But then again you never know what the next year will bring.
